TBWA Singapore’s Aussie expat copywriter Jexy Holman, together with art director Nuno Teixeira,have clinched first place in the print category of the Mediacorp Singapore Young Creatives Competition. Over 20 teams were given 48 hours to create and conceptualize a mock print ad for independent NGO, Mercy Relief. Teixeira and Holman emerged the clear winners and will represent Singapore in this year’s Cannes Young Lions Awards in June.

Arnott’s ends 70 year relationship with GPY&R – appoints DDB Group as principal agency

After 70 years baked snacks company Arnott’s has dropped roster agency George Patterson Y&R Sydney and confirmed the selection of DDB Group as its principal advertising agency after a review of its agency structure, which previously supported DDB Group as well as GPY&R. According to ANZ marketing director Susan Massasso, working with one, larger agency will give Arnott’s access to a broader range of quality, creative and strategic planning resources for the best possible return on investment. Says Massasso: “DDB has worked with Arnott’s for the past five years and has been responsible for developing a range of original and creative brand experiences for our consumers, including the recent Truly Madly Tim Tam Orchard in Martin Place, Sydney. We’re confident DDB has the structural capability, along with the quality of thinking, to best support the Arnott’s business moving forward.” The Company praised GPY&R on the contributions it made to the Arnott’s business during its long tenure.

Bonds zip it in new campaign via Banjo

Banjo have created an online video, tv commercial, poster and point of sale campaign for the new zip-fronted Bonds Wondersuit. To launch the new suit, now available with a zip instead of buttons, the agency asked cult-band Devo to re-record their classic track “Whip It” with the lyric “Zip It”. The re-recording was handled by the original band members using the old master tapes. The babies featured in the commercial were all stars of the Bonds Baby Search contest.

Longtail Perth teams with NZ animation house Cirkus for new Lotterywest Scratchie campaign

To launch Lotterywest’s latest scratchie, Wild Bingo, Longtail, Perth teamed up with New Zealand-based animation house Cirkus to create a rich jungle environment where players are encouraged to discover the various jungle critters and play a sample of the Scratchie ticket. The microsite has a dedicated HTML5 site for the Apple iPad, which allows players to move the binoculars around using the iPad’s accelerometer. “This was a first for us in a lot of ways,” said Longtail creative director, Josh Edge.
